Louisa Fuller (first violin)
Rick Koster (second violin) John Metcalfe (viola) Sophie Harris (cello)
Tuesday, 11 March 2008 at 7.45pm
Making their first visit to the Richmond Concert Society is the much acclaimed Duke String Quartet. Over the last few years the quartet has established itself as one of Britain’s most exciting string quartets. At home with music of all genres, the dynamic and approachable style the quartet have adopted has won them a considerable following throughout the world.
The Quartet’s work ranges from performing their own arrangements for Channel 4 documentaries, to appearing in New York on the David Letterman show with Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders, and performing with Blur on the soundtrack for the film Trainspotting. Their multi-faceted talent is equally coveted in the dance world. They have performed many times and in many countries with the Belgian dance company Rosas, playing music by Bartok, Berg and Schoenberg. They will be playing in their concert with the Richmond Concert Society the last of Bartók’s six great quartets. The concert will continue with the project to include some of the last great quartets of Beethoven. In November 2007 we will have heard the A minor Op. 132 quartet and when the Duke Quartet visit they will include the C# minor Op. 131. Visit the Duke Quartet's web site |
