The Chapel Royal has existed since 1537 as a body of priests and singers who serve the spiritual needs of the Sovereign. It has often been called “the cradle of English church music” for its members have included Thomas Tallis, William Byrd, Thomas Morley, Henry Purcell, Pelham Humfrey and John Blow.
